No one does not like butterflies, and building butterfly house plans are a woodworking project that is fun to make especially for the weekend. Making the house will never require a lot of time and money. You just need to collect your household things like lumber or wood. After you finish making this woodworking project you can add to your garden. This time we will make the butterfly house using redwood. You can use other woods like mahogany, cedar, or pine. So, let's take a look at DIY butterfly house plans!
This time, you will make box butterfly house plans with a peaked roof. You cut the boards into front: 22”x5”, back: 22”x5”, sides: 19”x3.5”, bottom: 3.5”x3”x1.25”. The butterfly house is a basic box with a peaked roof. One side opens on a simple hinge, allowing access to the inside for cleaning or for mounting it to a post. To make the roof, you make a mark in the center of the front and back pieces, then cut along the marks in order to form the peaked ends.
You will make the main entrance slots on the first pieces. You can make six slots with the measurement of 5" long by 3.8" wide. You can put anywhere you want after that, drill a hole using a 3.8" drill bit in each slot. With a jigsaw, you cut the rest of the slot to make a hole. Now, it is the assembly required. You should attach the bottom piece to the front and side assembly and do the same thing with the back pieces, then you can secure them together. To make a hinged door, secure the sides section to the front piece with one screw and finish it by driving one screw one to the back to form a pivot point. Your butterfly house plans are done!
